Early Childhood

The Early Childhood program provides the stimulating and creative learning environment that youngsters need, sharing individual and group experiences, developing a positive self image as they become confident independent learners.

Daily activities reflect the children's wide range of developmental levels within a sequential curriculum. There are many activities that foster math readiness and language experience in reading and writing. Large and small motor skills are developed through art, outdoor play, and manipulative games. The program is enhanced with Spanish, physical education, music, and art. Computer, field trips, plant and animal care, and projects with older children augment the program.

The program is taught at both Good Hope School campuses. Students from the East End campus regularly visit the main campus for assemblies, to utilize the library, and to interact with other Lower School students in shared activities.

Children learn at different rates, and their age interactions have an affirmative influence. We try to meet the needs of each child without losing sight of responsibility to their community of children. We try to ensure that each child

makes the most of personal potential, which reinforces a deeper satisfaction in well-being and progress. Young children need to have a thorough understanding of basic skills, to develop self-reliance and readiness to explore personal interests.

Youngsters flourish in the pleasant security of their home-away-from-home at Good Hope School. They are receptive and open, reaching out eagerly to learn more and more, using time and space to develop physically and mentally.
