NOTICE: The Good Hope School Sports Awards Banquet date has been changed. It will be on Thursday, May 22 at 6:00 p.m. , NOT Friday, May 9 th . Thank you for your understanding! Please join us on Friday, May 9th for "Movie Night on the Lawn at GHS" featuring Ratatouille . Concession stands opens at 6:30 and the movie begins promptly at 7 p.m. This event is being sponsored by the Parents' Organization. So if you are dying to become a chef, we hope to see you there and remember to bring a friend, a blanket or a lawn chair! All children must be supervised by an adult. Please do not drop kids off unattended . Unattended children' parents will be called for pick up. Thank you for helping to keep our children safe! Hope to see you on Friday! Parents' Organization The National Association of Letter Carriers (your mailman!) is having a food drive on Saturday, May 10 th , to combat hunger on our island. All donations of non-perishable goods will go directly to St. Croix food banks, pantries and shelters. A decorated barrel will be placed outside the Main Office to receive your donations. Please help the postal workers in this good cause. THE DONATION BARREL IS RIGHT OUTSIDE THE MAIN OFFICE!

A 250- word essay is due into the Main Office by Friday, May 9 th . The essay should focus on your most positive experience at GHS. The award will be presented at the 8 th Grade Celebration. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic potential, participation and leadership in school and community activities without reference to race, creed, color, gender, disability, religion or national origin. See Ms. Swan for details. American Counseling Association of the V.I. Scholarship Committee will be awarding two $1000.00 scholarships to two graduating seniors. Applicants must pursue a degree in one of the “helping professions in the fall. Requirements for applicants are: Two letters of recommendation; Overall GPA of 3.0, or above average ability as indicated by SAT or ACT scores; most recent transcript; one page essay why he/she wants to pursue a career in “helping profession”; evidence of acceptance at a university or college. See Ms. Swan for details. St. Croix Foundation is offering two scholarships for summer enrichment. Dove Memorial Art Scholarship will be awarded to junior high and high school students who wish to attend a summer program to develop their artistic skills in performance and visual art, as well as creative writing. Maximum award amount: $750.00. The Virgin Islands Dept. of Education is administering the Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship Program. The program provides a total of 5 Byrd Scholarships. Each high school student will be awarded $1,500.00 before the Secondary schools complete the academic year. Byrd Scholars must be a graduate of a public, private, secondary school, or from Adult Education or GED program, accepted for enrollment in an institute of higher learning. The student must have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement and shows promise of continued academic achievement. Special consideration should be afforded low and moderate-income families. See Ms. Swan for details. Applications are due to the Insular Superintendent of Schools office by May 16, 2008 . Late applications will not be accepted. Sterling Optical is offering eight scholarships to graduating seniors valued at 1,250.00 each for one year. Criteria are: Graduating Senior; GPA greater than 3.0; Bio sketch including a) list of accomplishments, b) future goals, c) community involvement. See Ms. Swan if interested. The Rotary Club St. Croix West is accepting applications for the Peter Christian Scholarship. Students will need to submit information on family income, biographical data, letters of recommendation (Director, teachers, minister or community leader). Applications are due on 5/20/08 .
