Thank you for your interest in The Good Hope School. We have a dedicated and dynamic faculty who provide the best education on St. Croix . All are experienced teachers who care deeply about the whole child and uphold standards of academic excellence, while also nurturing the heart of each student. We appreciate teachers who love children, are experts in their field, have a sense of humor, are flexible people, bring joy to learning, and want to make a long-term commitment to The Good Hope School and to St. Croix.

All faculty must have previous teaching experience, a bachelor's degree or its equivalent; a master's degree is preferred.

Good Hope is growing and continues their commitment to excellence - we have the following openings for the 2008-2009 school year: 

1st Grade Teacher – We are currently seeking an experienced 1st grade classroom teacher. This classroom position includes teaching a full primary curriculum of reading, writing, and math as well as other general Lower School faculty responsibilities. Candidates should possess teaching experience, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, along with knowledge regarding best practices in curriculum instruction and child development.

5th Grade Teacher – We are currently looking for candidates who possess the ability to teach the full range of classroom responsibilities including language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies. In addition, successful candidates should demonstrate the ability to create a nurturing and engaging classroom environment for students and work collaboratively with a second 5th grade teacher, colleagues, and parents. Candidates should possess teaching experience, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, along with knowledge regarding best practices in curriculum instruction and child development.

6th Grade Teacher We are currently looking for candidates who possess the ability to teach the full range of classroom responsibilities including language arts, mathematics and social studies. In addition, successful candidates should demonstrate the ability to create a nurturing and engaging classroom environment for two sections of students and work collaboratively with a second 6th grade teacher who teaches science and Spanish; colleagues, and parents. Candidates should possess teaching experience, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, along with knowledge regarding best practices in curriculum instruction and child development.

Middle School English Teacher – We are currently seeking candidates for 7th / 8th grade English. Applicants must have a broad language arts background in topics such as literature, writing skills, vocabulary, and mechanics and grammar. Middle School teaching experience is desired. Experience working with a collaborative team as well as the use of technology in the classroom is also desired.

Middle and Upper School Social Studies Teachers – We are currently seeking candidates for Middle and Upper School social studies. Candidates should possess a strong background in social studies, research methods and skills, and human development. Classroom teaching experience is desired.

Upper Mathematics Teacher – We are currently seeking candidate for Upper School mathematics. Candidates should possess a strong academic background, with classroom experience in advanced through fundamental mathematics (able to teach AP Calculus through Algebra 1) and the proven ability to help students reach their full potential. This opening may also include chairing the mathematics department.

Upper School Science/Mathematics Teacher – We are currently seeking candidates for Upper School science and mathematics. Candidates should possess a strong science background, with teaching experience in chemistry, physics, along with mathematics and the proven ability to help Upper School students reach their full potential.

All positions are full-time and begin in August 2008.

All Middle and Upper School positions include being a student advisor.

All candidates should support the mission of The Good Hope School and be able to contribute to the school community outside the classroom.
