Today The Good Hope Lower School hosted a special assembly in honor of the senior citizens at Aldersville Community Center in Frederiksted. The assembly was held in the James C. Savage Theater on the school's campus and was themed "The Music Train," which included musical selections and dances by students in the Pre-Kindergarten through Fifth Grade.

Raquel Cedano, Director of the Lower and Middle School noted, "The students visited the residents at the Community Center last year. An integral part of our mission is to instill good character and citizenship; and we try to foster this by giving students the opportunity to reach out to the community and at the same time bring the community members to the campus." Some special highlights from the assembly were the Second Grade's "Working Together" that got the whole audience to sing along, and the Fifth Grade's energetic band performance.

At the conclusion of the assembly, Mrs. Ernestine Alec of Aldersville presented a brightly colored, hand-woven wall hanging, to Good Hope's Lower School students. The students then presented the Aldersville Community Center with a $300 gift certificate to the Frame Up for their annual craft projects. This was an exciting moment for the Lower School , as the monies used to purchase the certificate were from the student's own efforts this fall. The Good Hope School 's annual Trick-or-Treat for coins instead of candy, allowed the students to raise money for a community cause. The seniors they enjoyed meeting so much during the previous holiday tours were first on their list as recipients.

Two vans carried the senior citizens to the theater where they enjoyed the lively performances, time to mingle with students, and have refreshments. In attendance was one of St. Croix 's most esteemed educators, Eulalie Rivera. Mrs. Cedano was especially excited to see her and share The Good Hope's passion for education with such a community leader, and advocate for the youth of St. Croix.
