Five upper school students from The Good Hope School were inducted into The National Honor Society in a ceremony in the James C. Savage Center for Performing Arts on Wednesday, November 21.  Michael Mongeau, Head of School, addressed the students. He remarked that these students have gone the extra mile and have earned this high honor; with each inductee demonstrating leadership in our community.

Members were selected by a faculty council for meeting high standards of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. To be eligible for membership, students must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 and meet high standards of leadership, service and character.

Students inducted were Seniors Stephanie Thompson and Keith Lehmann; Juniors David Dawiskiba and Krystin Wattley; and Sophomore Ashlee Douglas.

The National Honor Society ranks as one of the oldest and most prestigious national organizations for high school students.  Chapters exist in three-fourths of the nation's high schools.  Thousands of dollars in scholarships have been awarded to senior members each year by the sponsoring organization, the National Association of Secondary School Principals.

The Good Hope School 's active NHS chapter contributes to both their school community and the wider community through service and educational initiatives. "National Honor Society members are expected to continue their exemplary contributions to the school and community," said Jane Coles, chapter advisor and Science Department Chair at Good Hope. These contributions become lifelong habits for the students and assist in reinforcing the Good Hope mission in developing global citizens.
